Friday-FUNKday: VULFPECK from Michigan

How is it great that Friday came, right? Everyone knows what this means, last work day, party night and new article about some funk from me. I hope you enjoyed my previous post inspired by this incredible music genre. So here I go again.

This time I want to introduce everyone to VULFPECK, an amazing ,energizing and talented funk band .Those guys started working together since college time. Theo Katzman, Jack Stratton, Woody Goss and Joe Dart met in the University of Michigan's music school. I think this is awesome what life can bring us sometimes. VULFPECK started as classic funk band, they've been looking at Funk Brothers, Muscle Shoals and Wrecking Crew as an inspiration for their own music.

VULFPECK career officially started in 2011 when they released band's first single Beastly. If you expect meaningful lyrics from this song then sorry, wrong guess. As I said, band is the classic funk representatives that is why music itself the most important. The Beastly was released on YOUTUBE with a minimalist video, mostly it looks like a studio session-lots of instruments, VULFPECK itself and their greatest music. Talking about Beastly, what I admire about this song is simplicity and quality of a sound. It might remind you of a some old song, maybe even from a cartoon( as it did to me),and exactly this thing makes you want get up off the couch and start to dance. The main role is given to bass and drums, they absolutely rock this song, so you don’t need to think of any troubles or global problems.

This year VULFPECK release their new album( the 3rd one ) which title is MR.FINISH LINE. It is going to be a blast, because it is a new wave. I am really obsessed with their new songs. Not only you can see the evolution of their music, but you can feel same old VULFPECK funk style. Also all the songs have vocals, of course ,some songs from previous albums and EPs also had vocals, but new one for me is glorious. There is that song that I listened non-stop-ANIMAL SPIRITS. Surely the title is original and interesting and trust me, you won't be disappointed when you hear the song ❤ In it you can hear how Theo Katzman( who is a drummer and guitarist in the band) sings and ,OMG, this is priceless. I totally fell in love with how he hits those notes and this spices up the whole song. Also I noticed( as a musician) that they play piano 4 hands and it looks and sounds awesome.

So I guess I will stop glorifying those guys now, because you will not trust me until you hear it yourself. But beware, I promise you cannot resist of dancing from the moment you will press PLAY button.
