Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great day already ,so let me make it even better. I decided to make this hashtag related posts and will keep doing that to introduce you or remind you of some popular good old jams. Some are still on air, like being used for promotions or just playing on the radio's DISCO TOP 30 or whatever, but there are also some goodies that got almost forgotten or not heard for a long time. No one deserves it, right? So here I go.
Don't know why I actually picked this song, but let's just say that my soul reaches out to it. Barracuda ,such an unexpected title for song, which is written by an amazing ,pure rock, band in 1977. HEART is not a "girl" band, even though the singer and the lead guitar are women. Band's soul is definitely cannot be described as a girly girl.Ann Wilson(vocals) and Nancy Wilson(guitar) give us all the power they have, all the rage and passion. And the Barracuda is the great example of that power. Long story of that song is short, as HEART told, this song is about anger that they felt toward company .That you can surely spot as soon as you hear it. What I like about Barracuda is that you can totally name it a in one breath written song. You see/hear/feel something, you live it and you know it should be "captured" ,no other way it could be done.
Barracuda was released 40 years ago, but you still fill its freshness ,you can still relate to it. All those guitar riffs persecute us through whole song, that rhythm that cannot leave our brain and most importantly the lyrics. If you don’t know the real reason why this song was written then it is not that big out of trouble. You can always relate this song to a break up songs( that is also what band's story is about),only the reasons are different. The anger and power with which Ann shouts "BARRACUDA!" means that this is not actually a good thing to be. It SHOULD sound as an insult, an offence so that person will feel guilty and scared of YOU now.
I know that because of the generation gap and other stuff people of my age or even younger may judge my taste. Of course, HEART is kind of old band(but still active in their career),but trust me they are worth to be listen to. But still, if you are not into classic rock bands then go and listen to a great cover of Barracuda by Lea Michele& Adam Lambert, they definitely won't disappoint you.
So what are you waiting now? Go, listen and ENJOY!
