At this time of year what can be better than a good piece of indie soul-rock vibe? If yes, then we all should thank James Bay for his new album Electric Light coming up next month. Although, British singer already teased us a bit with releasing a couple of songs from the upcoming album- Wild Love, Pink Lemonade and Us. Twenty one song of purity and wildness at once, twenty one record of good and soulful music. Definitely already in love with Electric Light and cannot wait for full release * mark the May 18th in your calendars*
Recently released record (March 20th) Us in a horribly beautiful way has blown my mind as did also a music video that James Bay dropped this week. I want to say so much but cannot find the right words. Amazed by the beautiful lyrics accompanied with such touching and deep music. I think this is actually the greatest way to portrait the story the singer tries to tell us. How no matter how lost and afraid might you feel, how hopeless that life might seem there is someone who will hold you, who will comfort you. But you can also ready completely different in those lines. Sometimes you don't need anyone to make your happy place better, sometimes you need only yourself, the belief in yourself that you can do it, you can accomplish anything. Besides I can sense also a more general meaning like talk about nation in one big world. But the morale is that even after a stormy night the sun will rise, that no matter how bad things might turn you will survive it with belief in a better moment. Surely, this is the meaning of lyrics that I read between the lines, maybe James had radically opposite view writing Us, hope we will know soon.
As many of you may know my favorite part of any song is bridge and I am always waiting for it to make my conclusions for the song. Because I thing bridge is like a key of what is really going on in this record, what the whole story is about. Also, bridge or pre-chorus spice up song a bit and this is the best. In Us the whore arrangement is no need to say genius and beautiful and in the perfect symbiosis with words. Chorus and keyboards and claps in the background make the incredible spirituality and sanity of the song with main piano theme, meanwhile drums, guitars and bass shake the whole atmosphere, in the best way of course. And as I said the bridge is mostly always an explosion. The change of pace of thought, the change of accents what instruments make-unbelievable. And I cannot no mention the moment in the pre-bridge*not sure I can call it that*, the introduction made by guitar. Oh my, this is just terrific in my opinion, just so fit in, thank you James and your whole team for it.
This is one of the songs this week that I am listening non-stop. It brings so many emotions that can be and can be not overwhelming at the same time. Good masterpiece to fall put of reality and give a moment for yourself. So if you are new to James Bay or a big fan, but for some kind of reason haven't heard Us yet, go and check it out now! ENJOY!
